SHILLONG: The Rising Shillong FC, which was launched recently with fun fare, finds itself amidst a controversy after Chief Minister Mukul Sangma accused the club of misusing his name.
The club was launched on February 22  this year in the presence of Bollywood actor    Ali Fazal  as the brand ambassador.
The invitation letter said that the club would be inaugurated by the Chief Minister, but Sangma did not   attend the programme.
Speaking to The Shillong Times on the matter, the Chief Minister said that club had misused his name.
He said that one person claiming to   be   the personal physician of former Prime Minister  Manmohan Singh did call him once requesting him to inaugurate the club, but he did not give his consent to attend the function.
