TURA: The Meghalaya Elementary Pre-Service Trained Teachers’ Association (MEPSTTA), Garo Hills has alleged that an unqualified candidate has been appointed as an assistant teacher at Chibonggre Government LP School in West Garo Hills.
In its complaint to the SDSEO, West Garo Hills, the association referred to an earlier letter issued by the Director of School Education and Literacy (DSEL) where it directed all appointments of Lower Primary and Upper Primary school teachers to be made as per the NCTE norms only.
“The eligibility to all school categories was HSSLC with 45% and two-year diploma in Elementary Education/4-year Bachelor in Elementary Education (B. EE)/2 year diploma in Special Education. However, we have come to learn that the candidate appointed as assistant teacher in the said school does not meet the eligibility criteria,” it said while urging the authority to remove the teacher concerned and conduct a fresh recruitment to the post.
