Trucker assaults traffic constable

SHILLONG:  A traffic constable was seriously injured after being assaulted by a truck driver at Umling in Ri Bhoi. It was on the wee hours of Thursday (around 2.30 am), when an unidentified driver of a truck (AS-01-BC-0959) assaulted the traffic constable while he along with two other constables were checking the trucks at Umling.
In the incident, the victim sustained grievous injuries and was shifted to Downtown Hospital, Guwahati even as the driver along with his helper fled the spot immediately after the incident. Meanwhile, Police detained the truck.
