1st National essay competition concludes

SHILLONG: The Central Ground Water Board, Ministry of Water Resources, River Development & Ganga Rejuvenation, Government of India, under Jal Kranti Abhiyan organized an essay competition for the age group of 15 to 25 years on the theme “Role of Youth for prevention of Water Pollution” on March 17 for Tripura, Meghalaya and Mizoram zone.
Jury members comprising of renowned professors and scientists hailing from Shillong selected the essays received from Meghalaya and Tripura.
Andrew Kharmonlang, Synod College (HS Section) Shillong bagged the first prize of Rs. 50,000, Stefan WannLyngdoh, Martin Luther Christian University, Shillong bagged the second prize of Rs. 25,000 along with Sarvesh Kumar, NIT, Agartala, Tripura who bagged the third prize of Rs. 15,000.
Simranjeet Kaur, St. Anthony’s College, Shillong, Riti Debbarma, Holy Cross College, Agartala and Rustam Jamatia, Tripura University bagged consolation prizes carrying a cash reward of Rs. 10,000 each.
