BSF officials visit Balat border haat

BALAT: The BSF officials along with selected prominent residents of border area from East and West Jaintia hills paid a visit to Balat where the border haat situated.
More than 30 people including the Dollois, Sordar and headmen besides other village elders joined the tour program organized by the BSF Shillong and Jowai Sector on Tuesday.
The Dolloi Satpator, the Dolloi Darang, the Sordar Lyngkhat were among visitors.
Speaking to the media person, BSF DIG informed that they wanted to take people from another region to another region so that they get to know the culture, to know about the region and for them to know what is happening in the region.
“We also wanted to show them about the border hat…Today is Tuesday and it is a market day and we wanted them to see the border hat”, the DIG said adding that the purpose was only to familiarize people from one region with people of the other region.
“There is nothing to do with the border fencing since the fencing has all ready coming up”, he added.

There is nothing which we can control here the selling of the items this is decided by the government of India, and Bangladesh only the local goods whatever is produce in this region they can be brought to market similarly the same thing for Bangladesh people who live along the border in this region. Nothing can be brought from Delhi or any other region to this market. This market is for the trading of local products by the border settlers from both side.
