World Consumer Rights Day held

SHILLONG:  World Consumer Rights Day organized by the office of the Deputy Commissioner, South West Khasi Hills District, Mawkyrwat was observed on April 20 at a function held at Multipurpose Hall, Deputy Commissioner’s Office, Mawkyrwat.
The programme was attended by students of different schools within Mawkyrwat.
Speaking on the occasion as chief guest, R. Lyngdoh, Deputy Commissioner, South West Khasi Hills District said that the programme was organized with a view to make people aware of the importance of food safety and the preventive measures that one ought to take in order to safeguard health and hoped that through this programme, people will benefit and also learn to be aware and on how to take precautionary measures.
D.B.S. Mukhim, Assistant Commissioner, Food Safety dwelt at length on Food National Security Act 2013, Food Safety & Standard Act and Food Adulteration.
