SHILLONG: The State will have a ‘Cyber Crime Police Station (CCPS)’, a first of its kind, to investigate cyber and internet related crimes.
A notification in this regard was issued by F Kharlyngdoh, Commissioner & Secretary of Home (Police) department.
According to the notification, the CCPS will be under the Cyber Crimes Wing of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) for investigation of cyber and internet related crimes.
Informing this on Friday, IGP (Law and Order/Operation) GHP Raju said that Cyber Crime police station will have the jurisdiction over the whole state.
He further said that as on date, in almost all the militancy-related cases registered in the state, the criminals have used digital devices such as mobile phones and SIM cards to commit crimes like sending extortion notices.
