Shillong Prayer Festival from May 20

SHILLONG: Renowned Christian preacher, Dr. Paul Dhinakaran and his family members are all set to preach the ‘Word of God’ to the people of Meghalaya during the Shillong Prayer Festival organized by the Jesus Calls Ministry, Chennai at Polo Ground, Shillong from May 20 to 22 Dr. Dhinakaran’s wife, Sister Stella Dhinakaran will also preach during the festival. Their son, who is more in touch with the youths will also render his service by way of guidance and counseling to the youths. As a prelude to the Prayer Festival, Dr. Dhinakaran will formally bless and declare open the prayer centre located Demthring locality in Upper Nongthymmai, Shillong on May 19. The prayer facility will be manned by dedicated persons and trained counselors to assist people who are burdened with problems besides facilitating for praying and sharing God’s words. The Shillong Prayer Centre to be launched by Dr Dhinakaran, will be the 100th prayer centre set up by Jesus Calls Ministry across the globe. These prayer centres have been set up in all the major metros in the country and in Jerusalem, Israel with a purpose for praying for peace, harmony and brotherhood in the world. 23 years ago, Dr Dhinakaran’s father, late Brother Duraisamy Geoffery Samuel Dhinakaran and founder of Jesus Calls Ministry, a global healing ministry, came to Shillong and preached the Word of God to thousands of people at the Garrison Ground here. During the three-day Shillong Prayer Festival, Dr Dhinakaran will speak on the Love and Compassion of Jesus Christ besides praying for the sick, poor and the needy. Devotional music will be an important component to help the prayerful mood of the festival. Addressing a press conference at Shillong Press Club on Saturday, the Chairman of Shillong Prayer Festival, assisted by the Vice Chairman of the Organizing Committee, Pastor J.S. Mawlong, National Coordinator of Prayer Festival, K.J. Sukesh, Event Manager, A.J. Abarhan Isaac and Coordinator of Organizing Committee, A.S. Mawlong said the aim of the Shillong Prayer Festival is to pray for peace, harmony and prosperity of the people of Meghalaya. Pastor Mawlong also said that all Christian denominations belonging to Catholic Church, Presbyterian Church of God, Church of Jesus Christ and others are welcome to take part and be blessed during the festival. The festival will be marked by a meeting of clergy belonging to various churches with Dr. Dhinakaran to be held at All Saints. Buses will be provided for all those attending the festival from the city and its adjoining areas to ensure that they reach home safely.
