Impersonating as technical assistant for 32 years in GSI

SHILLONG: In a curious case, a person has allegedly taken the name of another to get a job at the Geological Survey of India (GSI), North Eastern Region, Nongrim Hills .
As per reply provided by GSI to the RTI  query of one Shakil Ahmed, it was revealed that one Mubarak Swer has impersonated as one Swapan Kumar, Junior Technical Assistant (Drilling) working at GSI engineering division.
Following the RTI revelations, Ahmed on June 13 petitioned Additional Director General, Geological Survey of India (GSI), North Eastern Region  seeking his intervention into the matter as it is a case of fraud and cheating the appointing authority.
In the complaint submitted to the GSI official, Ahmed  said that  Mubarak Swer  who is currently  working as a Junior Technical  Assistant (drilling) under the Director (ME) &HO GSI, Engineering Division, NER, has used the school certificate of Swapan Kumar  to get himself employed in the GSI.
Ahmed also said that the impersonator, a Muslim, has assumed the name of a Hindu to get himself employed fraudulently in the GSI and added that Mubarak Swer is also enrolled  as voter in the East Shillong constituency.
The petitioner has urged the Additional Director General to take action against the accused   for   impersonation and cheating.
Attempts were made to reach the Additional Director General for his response but the official could not be contacted since he was out of station.
When contacted, the complainant Ahmed said that after he recently lodged the complaint, he is yet to receive any response from the GSI.
It may be mentioned that Swapan Kumar was appointed in the GSI in the year 1984.
As per the RTI reply received by Ahmed from GSI, the father’s name of ‘Swapan Kumar’ (Mubarak Swer?) was mentioned as Ali Bux and the wife is Farjana Lyngdoh.
According to the reply, Swapan (Mubarak) was born on February 1, 1959 and his educational qualification is Class IX. He is set to retire on January 31, 2019.
His permanent address was shown as Malki Upper, Mission Compound Under Laitumkhrah police station.
