SHILLONG: The High Court of Meghalaya has asked the State Government to ensure that students who have already passed their class X examination from Kalpataru Academy do not suffer, as far as possible, in their academic career. The court also issued notice to the government to file its response.
Justice SR Sen, while hearing the case on Monday, issued a notice to the State Government to show cause as to why the instant petition should not be considered or any other order should not be passed as found deemed fit and proper.
The notice was made returnable within two weeks.
The court also said that the petitioner, Kalpataru Academy, is to take necessary steps to issue notice to other respondents in the case and also implead the Board of Higher Secondary School Education (BHSE), Delhi as one of the respondent as in its view their presence and pleading is important to adjudicate the matter.
The matter has been listed for hearing after two weeks for counter affidavit and further order.
The Kalpataru Academy, which is affiliated to BHSE, Delhi caters to drop out students who want to reappear for Class X and XII examinations.
However, there were complaints that institutes in the city have rejected admissions to the students who passed out from the Academy putting the career of hundreds of students who had enrolled in Kalpataru in jeopardy.
Though the state Education department had in August last year given NOC to Kalpataru Academy to get affiliated to Board of Higher Secondary Education (BHSE) Delhi the department withdrew the NOC on June 7 this year citing that the BHSE is not recognized by the Union Human Resource Development Ministry.
