KHADC plans market complex in Shillong

SHILLONG: The KHADC CEM P N Syiem stated that the Council plans to set up a market complex in Shillong Urban with an aim to generate revenue with a 60:40 per cent funding and has expressed willingness business tie ups.
“Focus of the Council is at the urban areas presently so that we can survive at our own collection.
The market complex can generate Rs 50 to 60 lakhs per year from the market,” he said.
The suggestion is under consideration by the Executive Committee (EC).
HSPDP, MDC Sohryngkham constituency Pyniaid Sing Syiem observed that the Council should focus in setting up markets in outskirts and rural area.  On the other hand, Hadrian Lyngdoh, EM in-charge Market informed that the markets of the council at Laitlyngkot and Byrnihat, is leased for a period of one year to Ailad Swell Rynjah at an Amount of Rs 2, 35, 000 and Shabor Pyngrope at Rs 2, 81, 000 respectively, the amount directly flow to the council’s  funds.
