Top ASAK cadre gives up along with two others

TURA: In yet another breakthrough for security forces combating militancy, an area commander belonging to the A’chik Songna An’pachakgipa Kotok (ASAK) surrendered before the West Garo Hills Superintendent of Police in Tura along with two other cadres on Monday.
The militants have been identified as Area commander, Netri T Sangma alias Harara (25), cadre Telleng Sangma (26) and another civilian cadre, Lucas Arengh (18).
Netri T Sangma is a former GNLA militant and had undergone six months training under the command of GNLA C-in-c, Sohan D Shira in 2011. Later, he deserted the GNLA in 2013 and joined the ASAK outfit the same year.
Telleng hailed from Mudupara Village under Garobadha in South West Garo Hills District. Being a matriculate his plan now is to pursue higher studies. Lucas is a civilian cadre and helped the outfit by running errands for its various day to day necessities.
During the surrender ceremony held at the Tura SP Office the duo handed over 4 live rounds of ammunition, a crude bomb, a 9 mm carbine, a magazine, seals and stamps and a 63 page demand note bearing the outfit’s seal.
