SHILLONG: A high level meeting on education chaired by Chief Minister Mukul Sangma along with Deputy Chief Minister, in charge Education, R. C. Laloo  on Thursday discussed  the issue of students who are not getting admission after passing their class X examinations.
An official statement in this regard said that the Government was seized of the matter pertaining to difficulty in getting admissions at the Class XI stage throughout the state and in order to ensure that all students are admitted in various institutions, an additional allocation of Rs. 3.5 crore was earmarked and 102 assistant lecturers and 11 laboratory assistants will be appointed soon on contractual basis to bridge the gap at the +2 level.
This step is being taken on a pro-active basis to ensure that no student is left without admission, the statement said.
A policy call was also made that the Government will encourage partnership with the communities and educational promoters and therefore provincialisation of institutions will not be taken up but rather support in the form of deficit funded schools and colleges would be initiated.
