SHILLONG: A woman from East Jaintia Hills has accused the headman of a village of violating her fundamental rights.
The woman from Kseh village lodged a complaint on Saturday that the headman, Hanli Dkhar terminated her job as an anganwadi worker and also forcibly took away her ration card besides refusing to issue a residential certificate to her and her family members thus depriving them of the benefits at offer under the Total Sanitation Campaign and MNREGS.
Earlier in the month of May, the victim had claimed that the headman along with others came to her residence and threatened her with dire consequences.
It may be mentioned that cases of alleged abuse of power by the headmen have been reported from various parts of Khasi and Jaintia Hills in the past.
