SHILLONG: The maintainability of the petition filed by Congress legislator Dikkanchi D. Shira against Tura MP Conrad K. Sangma challenging his win in the by-poll to Tura Lok Sabha seat will be examined during the hearing on September 8.
According to the petitioner, Sangma carried out a misinformation campaign regarding the distribution of money under MGNREGS thereby tilting 60 per cent votes in his favour.
During the hearing on Wednesday, the Court heard K.C. Mittal, senior counsel for the petitioner as well as A. Kashyap, counsel for the respondent.
Both the counsels submitted that they had filed their respective applications on maintainability of the election petition as well as opposition and prayed that the matter may be fixed for hearing on September 8 to decide the maintainability.
