3 dead, scores injured in GH road mishap

TURA: Three traders have been killed and as many as seven others have been critically injured after the mini truck they were travelling in lost control and skidded off the road at Dolonggre, on national highway 51 that connects Tura with Paikan in Assam, on Friday evening.
The traders from Krishnai town in Assam had arrived at Rongram weekly market, 15km from Tura, to sell their wares in the weekly haat and were heading back home when the mishap occurred.
The place of accident is in the vicinity of the same spot where a Tura night bus bound for Shillong had lost control,    last year, leading to several passengers being killed in that mishap. Also, a nursing school bus from Holy Cross hospital in Tura had met a similar fate resulting in several students and nuns sustaining injuries, the same year.
This time, several traders had boarded the packed 407 mini truck (AS18 A 4776) en-route to Assam when tragedy struck.
The driver of the vehicle was reportedly speeding and lost control at Dollonggre, shortly after 6pm leading to the vehicle to turn on its side.
One unidentified trader was killed on the spot.
The driver fled from the scene leaving the injured passengers to their fate.
Two other businessmen in critical condition were rushed to Tura civil hospital but passed away from their injuries shortly after arrival. They have been identified as Withbirthson Sangma (60) of Dikgre village near Nabang bazaar in Mesalkowa-Krishnai, and Nur Islam (39) of Bitapara, Krishnai, Assam.
The other critically injured traders who have been admitted to Tura civil hospital have been identified as  Sudhir Saha (45) of Krishnai, Lalan Prasad Gupta (65) of Krishnai, Katmingstone Sangma (50) of Phutimari-Krishnai, Jiarul Hoque (42) of Charhati-Krishnai, Fairoddin Sk (48) of Molandobi-Krishnai, Dinesh Ray (45) of Paikan and Rajabul Islam (24) of Bojurak Manikpur-Krishnai.
