SHILLONG: The Opposition on Monday questioned the government over the delay in providing facilities for residential schools which are in the pipeline even as the government informed that 20 blocks have been selected for setting up of boarding schools.
Raising a question in Assembly, Opposition leader Donkupar Roy said that though the government is bound to provide the required facilities for the residential schools in the state, only one building is sanctioned per school without taking into account other facilities. “In some areas, even after 24 months, no construction has taken place,” Roy pointed out.  (Contd on P-10)

(Contd from P-3)  In her reply, School Education and Literacy Minister Deborah Marak said that the government will complete the construction of the buildings for residential schools in a phased manner.
To a question, the minister said that due to problems related to land acquisition, there was delay in constructing the buildings in time.
