Tirunelveli (TN): Four state ministers on Saturday urged Sasikala, long time aide of Jayalalithaa, to take up the reins of government and also lead AIADMK. A resolution to this effect was passed at a meeting of the Tirunelveli Urban Jaya Peravai (Forum) led by AIADMK’s state secretary and revenue minister R B Udhayakumar. Others who participated in the meeting were V M Rajalakshmi, Sevoor Ramachandran and Kadambur Raju. After the demise of Jayalalithaa on December 5, state ministers and leaders, including party presidium chairman E Madusudanan, AIADMK treasurer and Chief Minister O Panneerselvam and Lok Sabha Deputy Speaker M Thambidurai had urged Sasikala take on the mantle of General Secretary and lead the party.
Sasikala, 60, had been a close aide of Jayalalithaa for three decades. (PTI)
