Leander, Sumer Sing, Dolyne on State award list

SHILLONG: The State Government announced the Meghalaya Day awards after the State Cabinet, which met here on Wednesday, finalised the names for the recipients.
Speaking to media persons after the Cabinet meeting, Chief Minister Mukul Sangma said the Pa Togan Sangma Award for social service will be given to Leander K. Marak and the U Tirot Sing Award, which is conferred on those from the field of arts and culture, will be given to accomplished musician, writer and journalist Sumer Sing Sawian.
The Cabinet also decided to confer the U Kiang Nangbah Award for achievement in sports to Dolyne Kharbhih who made it to the record books by becoming the third person from Meghalaya and only the second woman to successfully summit Mt. Everest.
