SHILLONG: The State police have tightened security for the Republic Day celebrations on Thursday.
Police said on Monday there are no indication of threats but they are keeping no stone unturned in security arrangements. Checking of vehicles has started and police personnel have been deployed in different parts of the State.
The Republic Day as well as Independence Day celebrations in the State have been largely peaceful in the last one decade. Unlike the years of turmoil, people now come out in hordes and shops too remain open.
