Shillong: With a fleet strength of forty eight ambulances located in forty three locations across eleven districts in the entire state of Meghalaya, GVK EMRI – Meghalaya on Thursday completed eight years in the mission of saving lives.
As on 31st of January, 2017, the Emergency Response Centre (ERC) has attended to twenty one lakh plus call since inception.
Of which the 108 Emergency Service Ambulance based in Meghalaya has handled more than one lakh fifty five thousands plus emergencies of which thirty percent are pregnancy related and fifteen percent are road accidents.
The “Wheels of Hope” has saved over 17000 plus lives and 1500 plus deliveries which have been assisted and conducted by the Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) and inside the 108 Ambulance.
Nationally, GVK EMRI is operating in 15 states and Union Territory in India as well as operating emergency services in Sri Lanka.
Apart from attending to emergency relating to medical, police and fire – GVK EMRI has also introduce services like Animal Ambulance on dialing 1962 through the Department of Animal Husbandry, dial 100, Women’s Helpline 181, Inter Facility Transport Ambulance, Mobile Medical Unit, Pediatric and Neonatal Ambulance, drop back ambulance to reduce infant and maternal mortality rate and call 104 for health Emergency.
