Shad Lakhempong
The Shad Lakhempong or Shad Rah Kynthei of the Raid Nongtung will be held from April 7-8 at Umpohwin, Raid Nongtung, Ri Bhoi. A total of 31 villages will participate in the annual traditional dance.
Office bearers
The Umpher village dorbar in its general meeting held on March 11 elected Joseph Warjri as the new headman. 14 executive members were also elected.
Scouts’ meet
The North Eastern Regional Scout/Guide will organize the 1st Regional Council Meeting from March 16- 18 at the Bharat Scouts and Guides State Headquarters for the North East States including Sikkim and N.F Railway. All Meghalaya Scout Guide Fellowship members have been invited to attend the meet at 9 am March 17.
Prohibition
Taking not of the information that some miscreants are rampantly killing fish along the stretch of the river Umngi which passes through Kenbah, Kenmynsaw, Phlangwanbroi, Mawrapat, Mawkasain, Kynrang and adjoining areas by using poisonous chemicals and explosives, the District Magistrate, EKH has promulgated an order under Section 144 of the CrPC prohibiting illegal killing of fish.
Strike
The C-O-C Shillong has urged all Central Government Employees Unions/Associations to observe one-day strike on March 16 in protest against government’s apathy towards Central Government employees in settling its 21-point charter of demands.
