NONGPOH: The Khasi Students’ Union in North Khasi Hills has raised the issue of “careless construction” of the 16.125-km PMGSY road from Umlaper to Lymphuid under Mawhati constituency.
The widening of the road has affected agricultural land at Umlaper, farmers here have complained and asked KSU to take up the matter with the Government.
The road project was awarded to Khlurstep Pakma at an estimated amount of Rs 144.03 lakh.
Based on the complaint, KSU North Khasi Hills district and its members from Nongpoh circle, led by its organising secretary Lamkyrdan Sungoh, inspected the area on Friday.
Speaking to reporters after the inspection, Sungoh said as many as 30 farmers have been badly affected by the project.
