Four injured, 2 buses damaged in Byrnihat

SHILLONG: Two night super buses were damaged and four occupants were injured when the unruly mob pelted stones on the vehicles at 13th Mile, Byrnihat on Wednesday night.
According to police, miscreants pelted stones at the vehicles at 13th Mile, Byrnihat on Wednesday night causing damage to several vehicles and injuries to some passengers.
During inquiry it was ascertained that the entry point to the weighbridge has become narrow due to ongoing road widening, which caused traffic jam in the area.
Due to this, several vehicles proceeded towards Guwahati from the wrong side and in the process one vehicle knocked down Biplop Dey of 13th Mile, Byrnihat, Assam, causing injuries to him and was shifted to a hospital to Guwahati.
Following this, unidentified residents of the area from Assam pelted stones at the vehicles, causing damage to two night super buses (ML-08B-1111) and (ML-08D-0725) and injuries to four occupants. In the incident, the vehicle belonging to the Leader of Opposition Donkupar Roy was damaged. However, the occupants were unharmed.
The ill-fated buses were later escorted up to Dudhnoi, Assam and Police brought the situation under control.
