SHILLONG: East Khasi Hills District Police are in the process of submitting three more charge-sheets in the high-profile rape and trafficking case involving a 14-year-old girl.
East Khasi Hills SP Davis R. Marak on Monday said altogether 11 cases were registered in this connection and three have already been charge-sheeted and three more will be submitted shortly.
Marak said 19 persons, including Mawhati MLA Julius Dorphang, have been arrested so far and 2-3 more, including ‘Prof. Roy’, are yet to be arrested though they have been identified.
Meanwhile, Marak said the East Khasi Hills police have submitted a proposal to the State Government for amending certain acts and policies to make guest houses and hotels in the city safer.
“There are certain grey areas, like paying guest houses with bread and breakfast facility. The issue is whether these need to register and how they will report about their guests to the police,” he said.
