SHILLONG: A book on Khasi Labour Corps written by Sylvanus Lamare, principal, St Edmund’s College, was released on Monday by Higher and Technical Education Minister Roshan Warjri.
Lamare said the book, “The role of the Khasi Labour Corps during World War I”, was written about those persons from Meghalaya who had participated in World War I as the labour corps in France.
A monument was erected at Motphran in memory of those from Khasi-Jaintia Hills who had made sacrifice during the war.
Warjri, who is also the local MLA, while releasing the book said it is in recognition of “our heroes – Labour corps, many of them who died in distant lands, and for the sacrifices they made in World War I”.
