GH youths bag medals at National Taekwondo tourney

TURA: Youths from Garo Hills have once again brought laurels to the region by winning medals in the 2nd Goodwill Open National Taekwondo Championships held recently at Gelakey Athkhel Market Playground in Assam’s Sivasagar District.

The tournament was organized jointly by the Assam Taekwondo Academy, Sivasagar District Taekwondo Association and Gelakey Health Club from May 9 to 11. A total of 32 youths from Tura Don Bosco Secondary School and East Garo Hills Taekwondo Association had participated in the event.
In the competition held separately for Boys and Girls in different weight categories 12 youths from Tura and 8 from Williamnagar succeeded in winning medals.
Avera G Momin (Silver), Nambea Jangchira D Marak (Silver), Patricia A Sangma (Silver), Airysa Sangma (Bronze), Azelia A Sangma (Bronze), Clareth Ratasa A Sangma (Bronze), Damsel Ch Sangma (Bronze), Diana A Sangma (Bronze), Mary Walnora Marak (Bronze), Ebrain Marak (Bronze), Everan Ch Marak (Silver) and Mikkimrado Ch Marak (Silver) were the medal winners from Tura Don Bosco Secondary School while Agate Sangma (Bronze), Derimia Sangma (Bronze), Rapse Sangma (Bronze), Anilbath Sangma (Bronze), Marsrang Momin (Bronze), Yuvraj D Sangma (Bronze), Dipuline R Marak (Bronze) and Friningstone Sangma (Silver) were the ones who achieved the same for East Garo Hills Taekwondo Association.
The two teams from Garo Hills was led by 2nd Dan (Kukkiwon & WTF) Instructor and Coach, Osmond T Sangma.
