Schools in two blocks in each district to get ADB funds

SHILLONG: Minister for School Education and Literacy Deborah Marak said that Government will select two blocks in each district for availing financial assistance for construction of new school buildings.
She was speaking after laying foundation stones of additional school buildings for Ambrose Memorial School at Khliehriat and a Secondary School at Byndihati in East Jaintia Hills.
Marak lauded the school authorities and the managing committees for their initiatives to ensure the smooth functioning of the schools. Marak also informed that the Ambrose Memorial School, Khliehriat is availing Rs 1.68 crore, while the Byndihati Secondary School was allotted Rs. 1.75 crore from the Asian Development Bank supporting Human Capital Development to improve education.
Marak said that through the project, more facilities will be given to the students and teachers which will include new classrooms, computer sections , separate toilets for boys and girls, teachers’ training room, digital and smart classes among others.
