BSF seizes sarees worth over Rs 25 lakh

SHILLONG: The BSF troops deployed at Umsyiem in East Khasi Hills have seized a huge consignment of clothes while being smuggled to Bangladesh from India, recently.
The BSF had sighted a suspected TATA 207 laden with several packets, which was parked near the International Border. The troops immediately rushed to the spot to verify the activity and on searching the vehicle, 1500 pieces of saree worth around Rs 27 lakh was recovered. However, the smugglers, on seeing the BSF ran away. The clothes were being smuggled through the unfenced area of Umsyiem.
