Bangladeshi intruder arrested in Assam
Morigaon: A Bangladeshi infiltrator, absconding after declared an illegal foreigner, was arrested at Silbhanga in Morigaon district on Tuesday. Acting on a tip-off, Farid Ali was arrested when he was taking shelter with a family in the village, border inspector of Assam police for Morigaon district D Bora said. The 32-year old Bangladeshi was declared as an illegal foreigner by the Foreigners Tribunal and the verdict was upheld by the Gauhati High Court last year. Police sent the Bangladeshi to the detention camp in Tezpur, Bora said. (PTI)
Woman and two children charred to death in fire
Agartala: A woman and her two kids were charred to death in a fire and subsequent explosion of an LPG cylinder at Hrishyamukh in Tripura’s South district, about 120 km from here, police said on Monday. One Jhunu Debnath, a small trader was pouring petrol from one container to another last night when his wife was standing near with a makeshift kerosene lamp and the petrol container suddenly caught fire which soon engulfed his thatched house. “His wife also caught fire and rushed to a room where two LPG cylinders were stored and those cylinders then exploded. The woman and her two children were charred to death on the spot”, SP, Police control, D Roy told reporters. However, Jhunu escaped unhurt. Police is investigating the case, Roy added. (PTI)
