SHILLONG: A young man ran into trouble after it was found out that he faked his identity to appear for the physical test for recruitment in the police force.
Marvelous Kharjahrin was arrested for running in place of Estanrilin Sohphoh and Tynshainlin Wanniang during the recruitment drive held last November. The candidates, who paid Kharjahrin for the fraud, were also arrested.
Lakador Syiem, member secretary of Central Recruitment Board who is also the Principal of Police Training School, said the three from Mawkyrwat resorted to unfair means during the recruitment drive.
The Central Recruitment Board has filed an FIR in this case at Mawlai police station.
Syiem lodged separate complaints on May 30 and 31 against Wanniang and Sohphoh, respectively. He stated that when the two appeared for the biometric verification and at the time of screening, it was detected that Kharjahrin had already run on their behalf in the PET held at Mawiong on November 25, 2016.
Kharjahrin was also caught earlier and a case was registered against him.
Syiem said Kharjahrin would often run on behalf of police job aspirants. Wanniang and Sohphoh paid money to Kharjahrin.
The arrested youth appeared for the post of follower which has over 2,000 vacancies. They are being interrogated by the police and the board. They are barred from applying any police posts.
Syiem added that the police recruitment is done in a meticulous manner which involves document verification, bio-metric verification and the interview conducted is also video recorded.
He has urged the youth to work hard while applying for any posts and not resort to unfair means.
