SHILLONG: Secretary of the Planning department BDR Tiwari has called for the need for “field-based” research which should be carried out in consultation with the community for its benefit.
Addressing the inaugural function of the seven-day National Workshop on Research Methodology held at Shillong College on Wednesday, Tiwari said though a huge quantum of research work is carried out in India, its quantity is negligible when compared to that of the developed countries.
He lamented that many a time, research works often go into cold storage for want of lack of practicality. Such research cannot be implemented on the field, he said adding that time was ripe to go for “field-based research”.
The workshop was attended by participants including teachers drawn from different districts of the State.
