SHILLONG: Public Health Engineering Minister Prestone Tynsong has denied reports about his chief ministerial candidature saying it was “somebody’s imagination”.
Speaking to reporters on Tuesday, the minister said, “Nobody has approached me regarding the chief minister’s post. It is only a speculation.”
Maintaining that he has been with the Congress for 15 years, the Pynursla MLA said, “In the state of Meghalaya, people vote for individuals, and not the party, (and) at the same time examining the services they render to the society. That is why there were over 13 Independent candidates who won the 2013 Assembly elections.”
Last week, media reports said Tynsong may be projected as the chief ministerial candidate of NPP provided he tries to get maximum seats in Khasi and Jaintia Hills in the 2018 polls.
