SHILLONG: The KSU president Lambokstarwell Marngar has maintained that the Union did not choose the path of violence or took up arms, but asserted that it will not surrender unless the contentious issues plaguing the state are addressed.
The KSU central body organized a public meeting at Community Hall, Umrynjah on Tuesday, to sensitize the people on issues of railway projects in the state and the need to come up with a strong mechanism to check influx before implementing these projects.
Referring to the raids in the homes and arrests of KSU members, he said, “The arrested members said that there should not be a demand for their release but to hold on to the stand on the issues that the organization has been fighting for.”
Marngar added that it does not matter whether the state government calls or does not call them for talks but it will go ahead with its opposition to railways.
The former secretary of Mawsiatkhnam, KW Lynrah said that the railway department forcefully asserted its authority by setting up the railway pillars within the villages’ boundary without getting permission from the village heads.
