Garbage collection vehicles provided to suburban Shillong

SHILLONG: The Shillong Municipal Board (SMB) on Saturday distributed garbage collection vehicles to six non-municipal localities under Shillong area conglomeration.

The vehicles were handed over to six localities under Asian Development Bank’s (ADB) North Eastern Regional Capital Cities Development and Investment Programme. Commissioner and Secretary of Urban Affairs Department Meghalaya, F R Kharkongor ceremonially handed over the keys of the vehicles to members of respective Dorbar Shnongs in the function held for the occasion.

The six localities were given the garbage collection vehicles by the SMB to enhance waste management infrastructure in areas outside the non-municipal areas. The localities include Pynthorbah Golflink, Pynthorumkhrah, Lum Shyap, Lumpyngngad, Nongrah and Mawlynrei.
