5 security men injured as Governor’s escort vehicle hit by pick-up truck

SHILLONG: Five security personnel traveling in an escort vehicle of Meghalaya Governor, Banwarilal Prurohit, were injured when a pick-up truck dashed against their vehicle at Mawiong in the outskirt of the city at around 1P.M. on Wednesday.

Police said, the Governor along with his convoy of vehicles was coming to Shillong from Guwahati. The speeding pick-up dashed against the escort vehicle whit it was trying to avoid checking being conducted in the area by officials from Motor Vehicle Department. The driver of the mini-truck has been arrested.

The injured security personnel were identified as Gopal Gurung, Ranjit, A Sawian, A Rai and M Mohdok. They were admitted to hospital.
