Abandoned girl child taken to a shelter home

SHILLONG: The baby girl that was found abandoned at 101 area, Upper Shillong on Monday has been taken to a shelter home, ‘Lawei Baphyrnai’ Specialized Adoption Agency.

In a press statement, District Child Protection Officer, east Khasi hills stated that the child was under the care and protection of the specialised agency.

Person/relatives having information of the child can contact the Office of the District Child Protection Unit, Lachumiere, Child Welfare Committee, Lachumiere and ‘Lawei Baphyrnai’ Specialized Adoption Agency, Mawklot.

The person/relatives can claim the child within 60 days from this day of publication, failing of which the child will be declared legally free for adoption.

It may be reminded that the child was found by alert residents of Upper Shillong who informed the 108 ambulance.

She was taken to the pediatric ward of Ganesh Das Government Maternal and Child Health Hospital for malnourishment.
