SHILLONG: The axed cabinet ministers, Prestone Tynsong and Sniawbhalang Dhar, did not show any regret over their sudden removal from the Cabinet on Thursday.
They indicated that they were committed to executing whatever tasks were assigned to them whether they are in or outside the ministry.
Earlier in the day, the chief minister had said on the sidelines of a programme, “It is a question of creating new space for some of our colleagues. At the same time, friends who have been in the Cabinet will then be available to further work for the party because this is how democracy works.”
He also said party members, be it the chief minister or a Cabinet minister, should be able to make themselves available for the party organisation to strengthen it.
While Tynsong said the chief minister called him up to tell that the exercise was to accommodate new faces, Dhar said he was not informed by the chief minister but added that dropping and induction is the prerogative of the chief minister.
Denying any plan to shift allegiance to any other political party, Tynsong said he still has faith in the leadership of Mukul Sangma.
“I am still with the Congress,” Tynsong added.
According to Tynsong, he is committed to carrying on with the work for the party and this has given him an opportunity to concentrate more in his constituency.
Though they are upset over their sudden removal, the duo did not show any sign of rebellion.
Before speaking to the media, Dhar met Tynsong in the latter’s official room at the Secretariat but they did not disclose what they discussed.
