Abandoned baby taken to shelter home

SHILLONG: The baby girl who was abandoned at 101 Area in Upper Shillong on Monday is taken to a shelter home, ‘Lawei Baphyrnai’ Specialised Adoption Agency.
In a press statement, the East Khasi Hills District Child Protection Officer stated that the child is under the care and protection of the specialised agency.
Any individual or relative having information about the child can contact the Office of the District Child Protection Unit, Lachumiere, Child Welfare Committee, Lachumiere and ‘Lawei Baphyrnai’ Specialised Adoption Agency, Mawklot.
Relatives can claim the child within 60 days from the day of publication failing which the child will be declared legally free for adoption.
The child was found by residents of Upper Shillong who informed the 108 ambulance.
She was taken to the paediatric ward of Ganesh Das Government Maternal and Child Health Hospital for malnourishment.
