NSCN(R) man held with weapon and accomplice at Changlang village

GUWAHATI: The Changlang Battalion of  Assam Rifles during a search operation at Yongchik village of Changlang district in the night of August 12  apprehended a senior cadre of NSCN (R) with an accomplice.

Bokam Wangrey, self-styled Sergeant Major, Rajapio South Changlang of NSCN(R) was apprehended along with an over ground worker, Raju Kumar Choudhury based on specific intelligence about presence of one cadre trying to terrorise people in an  attempt to extort at Yongchik village. The Assam Rifle battalion swiftly launched an operation and apprehended the NSCn ( R )  man with a AK-47 assault rifle, ammunition, contraband, multiple sim cards and other incriminating evidence.  With this arrest, the security forces have so far apprehended two senior cadres of the outfit in the past two weeks serving a blow to the outfit and its extortion nexus.

The security forces have been carrying out aggressive operations in the South Arunachal Pradesh and this apprehension has struck a blow to the extortion activities being carried out by the underground cadres of the group in the area, a defence source said.
