SHILLONG: East Garo Hills Deputy Commissioner HB Marak has tendered his unconditional apology for bypassing the District and Sessions Judge in appointing the special public prosecutor.
During the hearing in the High Court on Monday, the DC was present in compliance of the order passed by the court on August 18 when it took exception against the manner of his dealing with the matters related to the appointment of public prosecutors and the nature of responses from his office to the queries of the government pursuant to the order passed by the court.
The deputy commissioner filed a specific affidavit expressing unconditional apology for the mistakes and shortcomings as noticed in the earlier orders.
In the affidavit, the deputy commissioner has also stated that he would take all immediate corrective measures to maintain the dignity of the office of the District and Sessions Judge.
However, the court said any repetition of mistake or shortcoming may lead to severe action.
