SHILLONG: Shortage of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) in Shillong is a common trend and people in different parts of the city are once again facing acute shortage of LPG.

However, consumers are likely to heave a sigh of relief as the LPG stocks   have started to arrive in Shillong from Tuesday.

East Khasi Hills Deputy Commissioner, PS Dkhar said that the trucks carrying LPG cylinders had started arriving in Shillong from Tuesday.

He added that there was no shortage of LPG but the supply was affected following floods in different parts of the country.

As Shillong always faces shortage of LPG, the State government last year had written to the Union Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas demanding setting up of a LPG bottling plant in the State.

Earlier, the IOC too had expressed its willingness to set up a bottling plant in the State but the plan never materialized due to various reasons.
