UDP gets stronger in Ranikor

MAWKYRWAT: A headman and several others in Ranikor constituency have joined UDP giving a fillip to the regional party that is in alliance with HSPDP in Khasi-Jaintia Hills.
Most of the new members had earlier contested in both Assembly and District Council elections.
On Saturday, the UDP Ranikor circle welcomed the leaders in a meeting held at Nongjri in South West Khasi Hills.
The meeting was attended by UDP President Donkupar Roy, Working President Bindo M Lanong and Vice-President Alan Dkhar, amog others.
The leaders who joined the UDP include Just Hashah, headman of Nonghyllam who contested the MLA election from Mawshynrut in 2013, Air Marshal Diengngan who contested the MDC election from Langrin in 2014, LH Pariong who contested the MDC election in 1999, C. Nongbri, Leenga. A. Sangma and Nasar Marwein, all of whom had contested MLA elections in the past.
Other leaders from the area who also joined the UDP include Siberian Nongbri, Biding Hashah, Hosting N. Marwein, Dhamsing Hashah, Kwales Thongni and Mulding Kharbani.
The leaders said they have decided to support UDP because they want to see change in the constituency in terms of development.
