SHILLONG: The Meghalaya SSA School Association (MSSASA) has slammed the inefficiency of the state government given that nothing has been achieved without agitation especially in the field of Education Department.

Referring to the Teachers’ Day,  MSSASA Central Body President Aristotle C. Rymbai said that the day was an opportunity to honor the women and men who inspire, challenge and nurture people.

He said that the importance of the teaching profession was highlighted only during Teachers’ Day celebration while teachers were left to fight for their rights for the remaining part of the year.

Suggesting that the state government should take concrete step to find out ways and means for the betterment of teachers, he demanded that the state government must come up with a definite education policy.

Stating the MSSASA’s slogan for teachers’ Day is “Take a Stand for Teachers”, he said, “To take a stand for teachers and the teaching profession means to support teachers in the work that they do by providing adequate training, ongoing professional development, and protecting their rights.”

“On this day, we call for the creation of supportive teaching environments, adequate teachers training and safeguard for the rights of teachers. We must break the vicious cycle of declining professional conditions for teachers in order to improve the quality of learning for all,” he said.
