RBYC joins demand for removal of SP, DC
Nongpoh: The Ri Bhoi Youth Council (RBYC) announced its support to the ongoing demands for the removal of the Superintendent of Police, Ramesh Singh, and the Deputy Commissioner, CP Gotmare, in a press conference held here on Monday. It also extended support to the signature campaign launched under the leadership of Margret Rymbai and CB Syiem. Mission Tron, president of RBYC, alleged that Singh used several tactics that threatened the security and welfare of villagers. He also stated that the group would monitor the functioning of the police forces in the Block-II and bordering areas. Tron criticised the apathy of local legislators to take up this public issue with the state government.

Marketing conclave to promote networking, partnership held
SHILLONG: Meghalaya Basin Development Authority organised a one-day marketing conclave at RRTC (Rural Resource & Training Centre) Umran on Saturday, with an aim to bridge the gap between various market actors – the market committee, the traders, aggregators, farmers, value chain group members and supporting institution. The key objective was to promote networking and partnership between the various actors of value chain players. The programme was sponsored under Meghalaya Livelihood and Access to Market project (IFAD & Government of Meghalaya). The programme was inaugurated by Y.R. Mawlong, MCS, the EAC cum Nodal Officer, Basin Development Unit, Ri-Bhoi District in the presence of the Project Director of GIZ Peter Gross and E. Shanpru OSD, Market Service Division, MBDA. The moderation of the programme was done by Raymond Lyngdoh, BDU, Ri Bhoi. More than 250 partners, traders, farmpreneurs from across six districts of Khasi and Jaintia Hills region participated in the conclave. Thematic panel discussion was held simultaneously on issues related to market infrastructure, apiculture, aquaculture, organic farming and livestock and food processing. The panelist included both officers of line departments as well as organisations from within as well as from outside the state.

IIM invites NE entrepreneurs for Udyamita award
SHILLONG: The E-Cell of IIM Shillong has launched the 6th edition of its flagship entrepreneurial summit, EmergE’17. The yearly event, converging the frontrunners of the country’s entrepreneurial circuit, will be held on October 21-22 in Shillong. Nongstoin KSU to felicitate meritorious students
NONGSTOIN: The KSU Nongstoin Circle will felicitate students of the area who scored more than 80 percent in Khasi with the Maitshaphrang Excellence award on September 26, to pay homage to (L) Hopingstone Lyndoh Nonglait. Franklin Syiemiong, general secretary, told the press that the motive behind it is to encourage students to pursue Khasi in the higher levels of studies so as to compete with other literatures in the country.
