JOWAI: The move to oust Thombor Shiwat from the post of chief executive member of the Jaintia Hills Autonomous District Council (JHADC) gained momentum with MPCC calling a meeting on Monday to install a new CEM.
MPCC has summoned its members to attend the meeting so that the final decision for the post of CEM could be decided, sources said.
Sources also informed that Jowai Central MDC A Andrew Shullai is likely to be elected as the new leader of the JHADC though few MDCs who support Shiwat are not happy as there are senior members in the House.
Two Congress legislators from Jaintia Hills, including RC Laloo and Comingone Ymbon, will also be present at the meeting. This is the third meeting held to decide a new leader in Jaintia Hills.
“We hope the final result will be out on Monday,” said a Congress member.
The move to oust Shiwat from the post started after the Jowai Block Congress Committee president Shullai filed a complaint to the president of the MPCC against Nartiang MLA Sniawbhalang Dhar for his anti-party activities in JHADC. According to sources, some names were proposed for the CEM post which include JHADC Chairman Arborhima Darnei of Saipung, Kilometer Lytan of Shangpung and now the name of Shullai of Jowai Centràl was included.
