Sainik school examination pattern changes
SHILLONG: An All India Sainik School Entrance Examination (AISSEE) is held in the first Sunday of January every year to select candidates for admission in Class VI and Class IX of Sainik School, Goalpara, Assam. The procedure and format for application and examination is being changed from the next academic session (2018-2019). From January, 2018, AISSEE will be conducted as an OMR (Optical Mark Recognition) based exam. OMR based application forms along with instructions for filling the forms, sample question paper and answer sheets will be issued as part of the prospectus. Candidates can fill up the form either online or download the form, fill it and forward to SSG along with a DD of requisite amount. They can also buy the application from Sainik School, Goalpara. All aspirants’ parents and children are advised to note down the changes and prepare accordingly. Next AISSEE will be held on January 7, 2018 for the academic year (2018-2019). All parents who have Aadhaar card numbers are to enter it in the application form. Rs 5 lakh misappropriated
SHILLONG: Ajay Kumar Viswakarma, assistant manager of Operations, Writer Safeguard Pvt. Ltd, lodged a complaint that one of the employees, Filbert Pariat, engaged in cash replenishment services and other ATM related activity, had misappropriated cash amounting to Rs. 5,44,000 on different occasions.
DC’s intervention sought in genuine teachers’ list
TURA: The authorities of different schools under Selsella Block in West Garo Hills have submitted a joint complaint to the deputy commissioner seeking his intervention on the problems faced with regard to submission of the final list of genuine teachers for Teachers Information Management System (TIMS). According to the teachers, the final list of teachers submitted by the District Mission Coordinator (DMC) of Selsella was rejected by the DMC Tura owing to discrepancies and a new order was issued on June 15 directing the Block Mission Coordinator (BMC) of Selsella to call for particulars of the teachers and select a teacher each for language, science and social studies subjects including a fourth teacher from among the staff.After the new order, relevant documents of the teachers were again submitted.
Students’ body demands repair of bridge, road
SHILLONG: The Garo Students’ Union, Mindikgre Regional Unit has petitioned the Executive Engineer, PWD (NH) division, Baghmara demanding immediate repair of Dangsu timber-bridge under NH-62 and black topping and metalling of Eringre to Mindikgre road in South Garo Hills. The bridge, which is in a horrible condition, was sponsored by the Chief Minister on request of Kingdom Gospel Ministries for Believers Convention in January last.
AMPSTA concludes three-day seminar
SHILLONG: A range of issues was discussed at the recently concluded 3-day long Teachers’ Organisational Development Project seminar held at Dalu Girls’ A Secondary school hall, Koinakubi in West Garo Hills from September 21 to 23.The seminar, which was organised by the All Meghalaya Primary School Teachers’ Association, saw the participation of 43 government lower primary school teachers from Dalu Zone.The topics covered at the event included the involvement of youth to be the leaders in the organisation, methods of strengthening the association, Right to Education Act 2009 and the National Council of Teachers Education notification among others. Mritunjoy Ch. Marak and FC Shullai were the resource persons at the event.
BSNL launches Wi-Fi services
SHILLONG: On account of the growing trend of Wi-Fi and hotspots in this digital era, the Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) on Thursday launched BSNL Wi-Fi hotspots in ten areas of the capital city of Shillong. The areas where the services were made operational are Police Bazar, NEIGRIHMS, CGMT office, Garikhana, Happy Valley, Rynjah Exchange, Forest Colony, JN Stadium, GMTD Shillong and ICAR complex. The wifi hotspots has been launched in different segments like BSNL 4G plus and BSNL Broad Fi and customers can recharge from Rs 10 to Rs 1999 to use the services. KK Saxena, chief general manager for BSNL North East circle 1, said that Wi-Fi under USOF rural has also been installed in 15 rural villages of the state and it is already operational.
