HDR Lyngdoh inaugurates Diengpasoh Police Station

SHILLONG: Diengpasoh Police Station in East Khasi Hills District was inaugurated on Wednesday by Home Minister, H D R Lyngdoh at a function held at Diengpasoh village in presence of  Dr. S.B. Singh, DGP, Pyniaid Sing Syiem, local MDC, A. R. Mawthoh, DIG, Eastern Range, P.S.Dkhar, Deputy Commissioner, East Khasi Hills, D.N.R. Marak, Superintendent of Police, East Khasi Hills, G. Wahlang, Sordar Diengpasoh.

Addressing the gathering, Lyngdoh said it was his privilege to have had the opportunity to inaugurate the new police station which would immensely help the people of the area, who otherwise had to spend a lot of time and money to travel to Rynjah Police Station even for minor cases. Creation of new police stations is a part of the government’s policy for ensuring better policing services, upholding peace and maintaining law & order in the area and also bringing administration closer to the people, he added, according to a government communique.

Lyngdoh said that the government for the past several years had been coming up with various projects to ensure that developmental programmes and schemes reach every nooks and corners of the state and he also urged the people to work in coordination with the various departmental departments for the overall development of the areas.

On creation of the Diengpasoh Police Station, the areas coming under its jurisdiction shall cease to be under the Rynjah Police Station. The 11 villages under the Diengpasoh Police Station include Sohlaper, Mawiong, Ummir, Mawsharoh, Mawthumthum, Ryngksaw, Diengpasoh, Jaroit, Mawkhanu, Mynriang and Nonghali.

Pyniaid Sing Syiem, MDC, Dr. S.B. Singh, DGP, G. Wahlang, Sordar Diengpasoh also spoke on the occasion while East Khasi Hills Deputy Commissioner, P. S. Dkhar  read out the notification and handed it over to B. Marbaniang newly-appointed Officer-in-charge of Diengpasoh Police Station.
