Mawkyrwat: The Hill State Peoples’ Democratic Party on Friday felicitated 24 persons from South West Khasi Hills district, who were arrested by the government during the hill state movement, in a meeting held at Mawkyrwat Dorbar Hall on Friday.
Speaking on the occasion, HSPDP President, Ardent M. Basaiawmoit lauded the local unit for felicitating these patriots who were then fighting and suffered “for our better future”. He also said that the party saluted all those people who fought for the Hill State.
He further added that HSPDP in Mawkyrwat as well as the candidate, Renik L. Tongkhar are very lucky.
“HSPDP is very lucky to get Renik as he has his own followers and HSPDP has its own supporters, who will not move out of the party ,” Basaiawmoit said.
He added that the party has a chance to win from Mawkyrwat constituency especially because of the alliance with UDP and asked the people to vote for HSPDP candidate.
Basaiawmoit also said that the electorate should understand their own value and should not fall into the trap of money power.
“The money you get during elections will not be able to make your life better, and those candidates who have spent crores of rupees will try to get back all the money in five year as MLAs,’ he said.
