SHILLONG: An individual has sought a vigilance probe against a motor vehicle inspector in the city for allegedly possessing black money.
A complaint was recently lodged with the State Vigilance Commissioner seeking action.
The complaint said Ivan Shandor Kharmon, who is working as motor vehicle inspector and presently posted in Nongstoin, has black money amounting to crores of rupees amassed while he was serving the government.
The complaint lodged by Mark AP Basaiawmoit said the government servant is also the owner of illegally purchased land and buildings.
The petition said Kharmon is depositing Rs 10,000 per day in his savings account with Vijaya Bank, Laitumkhrah. The money is illegally collected from vehicles during his course of duty.
The petition also said that he had deposited money in Meghalaya Co-operative Apex Bank, Shillong branch, and SBI Kench’s Trace branch.
He also referred to Kharmon’s newly constructed house in Lawsohtun, Block-V, another house at Nongmensong, two plot of land at Mawkasiang, Mawdiangdiang, in front of IHM, and also unaccountable landed properties in and around Shillong.
“The person being a government servant amassed wealth within a very short period,” the letter said.
